1966: Egon Zimmermann & the Scotch Club
Family and history
It all started with Egon Zimmermann – Olympic champion, world champion and lifestyle icon. He opened his Scotch Club in 1966 on the original site, which quickly became a meeting place for stories, encounters and unforgettable evenings.
The next generation
Michael Zimmermann, Egon’s nephew, took over the establishment – and in 2024 decided to build a new building that combines tradition, charm and modern hospitality. Together with his wife Christiane and their two children Annika and Kilian, they continue to run the family business with heart and vision.</p

When Egon Zimmermann founded the Scotch Club in 1966, it was more than just a pub – it was a statement. A place for encounters, for style, for new paths. The famous leap over the Porsche – captured in an iconic black and white photo – still symbolises the courage to realise dreams today.
Tradition needs attitude. And the courage to think ahead.
This spirit lives on. In the philosophy of the Kristberg, in our eye for the essentials, in our love of quality, atmosphere and genuine moments. We don’t see nostalgia as a retrospective, but as an anchor – as a reference point for what matters today.
A new chapter – with a preserved soul.
Michael Zimmermann has also taken a leap: the complete rebuild of the hotel in 2024/25. Not out of calculation, but out of conviction. For a hotel that not only quotes history – but continues to write it.
